Ward dashboards bring together different bits of statistical information into a single, easily viewed screen that can be accessed at all times
Councillors often find themselves inundated with information, some of which is not entirely relevant and some of which could be presented better to allow the relevant details to be easily picked out. In particular Councillors feel they do not have easy access to statistical information on their ward, such as crime, health and demographic information. Having one screen that brought such information together would save Councillors a lot of time and ensure they were better informed when carrying out their various roles.
Not many Councils yet provide Councilors with comprehensive ward level dashboards and if Councillors request this it would require some level of development. External sources or examples of ward level information currently existing include the UK national statistics website which has a Neighbourhood statistics site Neighbourhood statistics - ONS contains some relevant statistics. Also Tower Hamlet has a Local Information System Neighbourhood information - Tower Hamlets which generates tailored reports for Safe Living for example, and Bristol Neighbourhood information - Bristol and Newcastle Neighbourhood information - Newcastle have some ward-level information web-pages.
