Councils usually provide their Councillors with accessto the Internet and many make available access to their Intranet. Typically Intranet refers to the browser based information that (council) employees have access. It is different to the Internet in that although the same sort of technology used for Internet access is used for the Intranet the user typically only sees information relating to their Council. It is different from the council network because these use different technologies.

It can be useful for Councillors to have access to the Intranet because they have access to a much broader range of information.
